Agnesa Batik was established in 1970 with the aim of developing traditional batik business using the cap and tulis (handwritten) methods. The distinctive feature of Agnesa Batik's handwritten batik lies in the motifs and colors used. The motifs of Agnesa Batik's typical batik depict natural elements such as swamps, forests, stones, plants, or objects, and elements in the surrounding environment. Some examples of these motifs include piled stones, kadaka leaves, awi nagaramat, ginger, wood fiber, and taleus leaves. The colors are dominated by vibrant colors such as blue, yellow, green, orange, red, and brown. Another characteristic of Agnesa is its bright colors with a wide range of variations.
